April 2014 Java Jam

Don’t miss Wharton’s most unique dining/live music venue.

John Arthur Martinez headlines the Java Jam, Friday, April 25th, 6-9 pm, at Milam Street Coffee for a return appearance. The popular troubadour from Marble Falls, Texas has toured throughout the United States and Europe for more than a decade gathering fans from both English and Spanish speaking countries because of his bi-lingual writing and musical rhythm skills. He is equally at home with Country, Folk, Spanglish and Rock and Roll.
JAM” as friends have come to abbreviate his rather lengthy moniker, is more than just a singer/songwriter/musician, he’s quite the entertainer as the nation found out when he first appeared on national TV as a contestant on the first season of Nashville Star in 2003. Out of 100,000 hopefuls who tried out for the show and washed out, JAM went to the finals and finished in second place to Buddy Jewell. When asked if it was worth the effort the affable optimist declares, “Absolutely, my touring schedule doubled the next year. The power of television is so amazing and I’m grateful for the experience.”
Martinez has not slowed down since. His bi-lingual recording of the George Strait classic “Amarillo by Morning” became a hit in Argentina, “The River of Love” was popular in Europe as well as the Latin Markets. Now he hopes to capitalize further with his latest CD “Purgatory Road.” One song on that disc, “The Ride” was inspired by a show he and a friend did at a Texas Bar where the duo outnumbered the audience by one, he explains with a hearty laugh. Whether it’s one or several thousand what you see is a real pro who enjoys “The Ride” and he invites you to come along. Fans can check out further details on his website www.johnarthurmartinez.net
