August Java Jam 2013

Don’t miss Wharton’s most unique dining/live music venue.

Friday, August 23rd at 6 pm
Hailing from East Bernard, Texas, Marc “Tex” Krenek's music interest began at a very young age playing for imaginary crowds with his Roy Rogers guitar. Around age 12 he traded in his Roy Rogers guitar for a real guitar and improved his guitar playing skills in his first experience playing with the Holy Cross Catholic Youth Choir. In his later teens, admiring the songwriting skills of some of his heroes such as Hank Williams, Waylon, Willie, Merle and others, he took up his pen and started writing his own songs. Some of which have been recorded by fellow performers. In his 20's Tex made guest appearances with several bands and performed as a soloist. Traveling to Nashville seemed like the next step in his musical career. While in Nashville, he performed open mic at several well known establishments like the Blue Bird and Tooties Orchid Lounge. Finding Nashville not suitable for his style of music, he returned to Texas and continued his music discovering the Austin scene more to his liking. Playing at multiple open mics, he soon found himself being asked to be the featured artist. Due to circumstances beyond his control, he left Austin and was forced to put music on hold. Now after much encouragement from family and friends, he has returned to performing and writing music. He has recently performed at the Milano Opry and Scheller's Bar & Grill.
